IEC Telecom Europe supports La Route du Rhum, transatlantic single-handed yacht race, which takes place every 4 years in November between Saint-Malo, Brittany, France and Pointe-à-Pitre, Guadeloupe. This year the race starts on 4 November and gathered more than a hundred of skippers from all over the world.
IEC Telecom Europe provides 15 French teams with all necessary satellite equipment so they could stay in touch with the shore, upload the updates and be safe during the race. FleetOne, FleetBroadBand 250, FleetBroadBand 500, Iridium GO!, Openport, and Iridium phones will help sailors to stay connected in the most remote areas on Earth, including world oceans.
“Connectivity is vital during such racings. Sailors definitely need devices for warrant possibility to communicate with the shore in case of emergency and just in order to maintain the game face during the sport challenge”, − says Gwenael Loheac, Chief Operating Officer, Managing Director at IEC Telecom Europe. “We are proud to support French skippers and provide them with satellite equipment during the race and happy they rely on our experience.”
Follow IEC Telecom on social media for more updates of the race and see the news on the La Route du Rhum website.
