IEC Telecom and Thuraya introduce the game-changing innovation to the MSS market. Thuraya X5-Touch, the world’s first Android Satellite & GSM smartphone, will be commercially available for IEC Telecom`s individual and corporative clients in Q4/2018.
The X5-Touch is the first satellite phone to run on the Android Operating System and is equipped with a 5.2” full HD touchscreen LCD. It is the most rugged satellite phone ever built, receiving an IP67 rating. This means that the phone is fully water and dust proof, complies with MIL 810 G/F standard, and has a Gorilla® glass display. All those advantages make it capable to withstand even the harshest conditions.
With The Thuraya X5-Touch our clients will have even more possibilities to stay connected worldwide. This new smartphone has two SIM-card slots for enhanced user flexibility, as well as the ability to have both its satellite and GSM modes ‘always on’ simultaneously to easily switch between terrestrial and satellite communication. The Thuraya X5-Touch has a front and rear camera, high-capacity battery for extended talk time and standby time, as well as a built-in SOS button. The phone also will provide our customers with advanced navigation and tracking functions, thanks to connection to GPS, Glonass and BeiDou systems. All those functions are important for user`s safety during critical situations. The phone’s state of the art connectivity options include Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and NFC. Customers will also be able to download and use every existing Android Apps.

The Thuraya X5-Touch will be available for purchase in Q4/2018. Corporate clients, may already sign up onto a waiting list by contacting your Account manager. Individual clients will be able to purchase the satellite phone online via our Satavenue store as soon after the official launch.
